PREACHING FAITH IN JESUS

1 Corinthians 15:1-11

THE SAVING POWER OF THE GOSPEL

V:1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

  1. It is good for us to review the Gospel truth by which we were saved.
  2. The faith we have is not ours to boast, but ours to proclaim

Though the election by Jesus Christ before the foundation of

The world.

  • Jesus chose us before there was a reason to step down out

Of heaven for our salvation. (Ephesians 1:4).

  • Jesus chose us in Him before sin entered the universe.
  • Our Savior foreknew our need before there was a need.
  • In His divine knowledge,  He knew sin and therefore allowed

It to come into a perfect world before it existed.

  • By His divine and infinite mercy, He planned our salvation.
  • Why Our Savior chose us in Him before the foundation of

The earth is beyond my understanding.

  • It is up to every believer to hold fast to the gospel truths

That we have been taught.

  1. To have any doubt is to minimize the blood that was shed on

On calvary for you.

THE PROOF OF JESUS PLAN FOR SALVATION

V:3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

  1. One thing we must remember is that all of the events leading

To the Lord’s death was planned out by Him and made known

To us in His prophecies.

         1.   Suffering Servant                               Isaiah  53:4

           2.   Betrayed for 30 pieces Of silver      Zechariah 11:12

           3.    Hanged on a tree                              Due    21:23

           4.    Hands and feet pierced                   Psalms  22:16

           5.   No bones broken                               Psalms 34:20

           6.   Atonement of the blood                  Leviticus   17:11

           7.   Resurrection                                       Job  19:23-20

           8.  Resurrection after 3 days                  Mark 9:3

           9.  Conquer death                                     Isaiah 25:18

           10.  New covenant                                    Jeremiah 31:31

Since we have both the Old and New Testaments it is easy for us

To see Jesus’s plan of salvation and the fulfillment of His

Redemption of His elect.

THE PROOF OF THE RESURRECTION

V:5 and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

  1. Proof of Jesus\’ death and resurrection is found in the testimonies of

The disciples that walked with Him.

  1. As we celebrate the resurrection of Our Lord and Savior

We are armed with proofs recorded in the scriptures.

  1. Mary Magdalene                               Luke 24:5-6
  2. Disciples on the road to Emmaus        Luke 24: 13-32
  3. To the disciples in a closed room        John 20:19
  4. Breakfast on the beach                         John 21
  5. To Paul                                                     Acts 9
  6. His ascension                                          Acts 1:3-11

It is important for us to believe in the scripture as recorded.

To believe otherwise is to deny the redemptive plan of the Lord.

We walk by faith and not by sight.

We have Biblical record of God’s Word dating back 4000 years

Before the birth of Christ (According to  C. I. Scofield )

God has not allowed His Word to get lost, but to remain in print

For all the world to read.

God continues to fulfill His prophecies.

Matthew 5:18-19

I tell you the truth until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

One thing we know is evil is all around us. Sin in man began in the Garden

Of Eden with Adam. Sin in all of its corruption has never been able to destroy

The Word nor man’s faith in the Word

The proof of the validity of the Word is its power to influence man

In the hope of eternal life with Jesus.

THE POWER OF PREACHING THE GOSPEL

V:9 For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them — yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11 Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.

  1. The first thing you and I ought to conclude is that we do not deserve

The grace of our Lord and Savior.

  1. We have all sinned against God at some time in our lives.
  2. Since the wages of sin is death, how do we claim the grace

Of God?

  • We claim the grace of God because of His confessed love for us.
  • In John 3:16, God makes our undeserving testimony to His Love

John 3:16-18

\”For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

  • Paul claimed He worked harder for the Gospel than any of the other

Apostles.

  1. He claimed the blood of Jesus for His salvation and not his works.
  2. All of us should give thanks for the blood of Jesus for His

Grace is our salvation.

  • Let u be the light that draws others to Christ.
