YOU WERE WONDERFULLY AND FEARFULLY MADE Genesis 2

YOU WERE WONDERFULLY AND FEARFULLY MADE Genesis 2

YOU WERE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE

Genesis 2:2-3
2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
NIV

Genesis 2:4-8

When the Lord God made the earth and the heavens — 5 and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no man to work the ground, 6 but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground — 7 the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

GOD ORDAINED A DAY OF WORSHIP
After God’s creation of Heaven and earth was complete, He set a day of
Rest on the seventh day. The Hebrew word for rest is shabbath which means to cause to cease, take away, or put away.

When we have worked long and hard God expects us to rest. He set aside a full day. Work is good and necessary for the well-being of man, but rest is all so important. God gave us day to work and night to rest. Six days is a complete work period. We need a complete day to recuperate, regenerate, and reflect on the goodness of God.

The text says God rested from all the work He had done. He put it behind
Him so He could be totally focused on worship. The message to you and me is to let the past six days of work go. Don’t bring the thought of work
Into the Holy day. The Holy Day, which is Sunday for us is to be focused on
God.

If you think about work, you are violating God’s design for you. I am not sure that the day of the week is God’s concern because He set the day for the Jews as a Saturday, but changed it to Sunday after Jesus’s death and resurrection, What I think is most important is to set aside a day in the week for Worship. A day when we rest completely from the thought of work
And focus on the goodness of God is worship.

If the day of worship has become a day for our entertainment, it not a day of rest. If I am doing what pleases me, it not going to be entirely Holy. Certainly, We may prepare a meal or go out to eat, but it must be to honor the Lord with thanksgiving. What about the people who work to serve us
A meal? Are we causing them not to consider a Holy day? Or should
They just find another day to worship? We have gotten used to being Holy
Doing the Worship Service but back to selfishness the rest of the day.

THE BLESSING OF THE DAY OF WORSHIP
God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it. The Hebrew word for
Sanctified is qadash to appoint as a day of purity.

God blessed man with a full day to rest from toil or labor. To rest the mind
From the worries of life. He declared the blessed day Holy. This blessed day is a day of worship and reflection on what God has allowed us to accomplish. And to pay holy tribute to the goodness of God.

How often do we take the entire day as a day of worship without any thought for tomorrow? How often do we give God a couple of hours
Of worship in the sanctuary, and rush back home to plan for Monday?

Matthew 6:31-33
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and….

God set aside Sunday as a day for you to strengthen your relationship with Him. When God is first in our lives everything else is secondary and will be
Provided as needed.

KEYS TO FAMILY RELATIONSHIP
The first key to family relationships is worship. Family starts with God, not you. When God is the center of family life, He will guide, provide and
protect your family.

HONOR GOD WITH SIX DAYS OF GOOD WORK
You don’t know what you will face tomorrow. Leave that up to God. When you wake up tomorrow, God has already set your day in motion. Before
man there was God making a creation good for you. You cannot step in after the fact and control what God didn’t give you permission to do. He gave you permission to worship Him!! GOD DIDN’T GIVE YOU THE RESPONSIBILITY OF TOMORROW

2 Corinthians 9:8-9
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

According to verses 2:5-7, God prepared the good work for you to labor
In. Your work consists of what God created, not what others think you are
Capable of.

YOU ARE A WONDERFUL FORMATION
Consider this, your body was formed out of the dust of the ground. Has anybody ever seen flesh and blood in a speck of dust.? Can you
See your skeletal structure in a speck of dust? How do ears, eyes, and
Nose form out of dust?

Everything God made can be put to use for good. God sets the example for
All our actions. The dust of the ground was put to divine use. Nothing that God made should be considered as having no value.

Genesis 2:6-7
7 The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

From the dust, God molded a complete body for man. It had structure, it had organs. It had blood. It had muscles. It had joints and ligaments. It had a Heart, lungs, a digestive system. and reproductive organs. It had no life. It was just a corpse. Look at the dust and see where you came from. Look
Look at the dust and see how small you are as compared to God. Look at the dust and see how valuable you are.

And God-breathed. The Hebrew word for breathed is naphach which means to puff, blow hard, or inflate. We see this all the time when CPR is
Performed on a person to revive them.

The difference here is there was no life to revive. This breath from God created life in man for the first time. Notice the difference between God’s creation of animals and man. All living creatures were created living
At once. They did not get the breath of God. The breath of God is the spirit of God, which made us a living soul. Animals were not made from the
Dust of the earth and did not receive the breath of God.

But man was molded from the dust and God breathed life into him and he became a living soul. Therefore, I can only conclude that there is a difference between the life animals have and the life man has.

The Hebrew word for being or soul is nephesh which means mental, a being with thoughts, emotions, appetites, and a will. Man is unique
Among God’s creatures. Your dog, your cat, your pet should never be
Compared to you. They may be compansions but they do not have
The breath of God.

Acts 17:25-26
And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.

You live because God breathed in you a living soul. It is God that keeps you alive. God gives you breath every moment of your life. He can take it away
In a fraction of a moment. God made you complete and lacking nothing to
Exist in the environment He created for you.

A SPECIAL PLACE FOR YOU
Genesis 2:15-17
15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”

According to the text, man was made outside of the Garden and then put into the Garden to work. There was life outside the Garden. But God made
The Garden of Eden a special place for His special person. This special place was a place where God talked to His man called Adam.

You and I ought to have a special place to talk to God. He is extraordinary and we are ordinary special. God gave us work to develop a sense of self-worth. We are the special place to talk to God about work. Our bodies are the temple of the Lord. Whatever is going on in your life is work and God wants to talk to you about that which concerns you.

The first order of business for man is Worship. The second order of business for man is work. The third order of business is obedience.
In the Garden of Eden were all kinds of fruit trees to eat from. God
Pointed to and commanded Adam not to eat from the Tree Of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam was permitted to eat from all other trees. God
Gave Adam the consequences of disobedience; death.

Eating is a gift from God. But eating the wrong thing can be detrimental.
God has a diet of obedience for us. Eating the wrong thing can make you
Sick. You have to know your body. No one knows you like God or knows what is best for you like God.

John 6:56-58
“He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 “As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me.

We need a daily diet of the Word of God. Tuding the Word keeps us in tuned with God. God’s command to Adam was not to get distracted by his desires but to stay obedient to Him. The consequence of the wrong diet is death.

The consequence of disobedience is spiritual death. Adam was born alive
In God, then presented with the challenge to be obedient.

We all have the choice to abide in Jesus or follow our own will. The question each moment of the day, is who will you choose?

GOD CREATED THE INSTITUTION OF MARRIAGE
Genesis 2:18
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

Man was made with the need for companionship. The Hebrew word for alone is bad, which means separated or apart. It is bad for man to be alone. God made man with a need for a counterpart. Man can talk to God, but we need someone we can touch, feel and see, and relate to like us. God was not considering Himself but what was good for you.

The next thing according to the text God did was to show Adam why he
needed help.

Genesis 2:19-20
He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.

The question is did the animals line up two by two and come to Adam to be
Named? Or did Adam have go find the animals to name them? The text says God brought the animals to Adam. God is our first helper. God is our
Best helper.

The point is God gave us the creative ability to accomplish what He calls us to do. Did Adam keep a record of the animals he named or did God keep the record?

I can assume that Adam was exposed to all the animals with their mates. Certainly, it was a tremendous job to name all the species of animals on the earth at that time. This could have impressed Adam with the need for someone to help him with the awesome responsibility of caring for God’s creation. Adam may have thought, if animals have mates, why not me?

GOD HAS SOMEONE SPECIFICALLY FOR YOU
God put Adam to sleep and performed the first operation on man. He was the anesthesiologist, the surgeon, the nurse, and the healer.

God took a rib out of Adams’s side closed him up and formed Eve around
The rib. When Adam woke up. God introduced Eve to Him.

Genesis 2:20
23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’for she was taken out of man.”

Adam was asleep when Eve was formed. How did he know the woman
Came from his body? Did God tell him or place in his mine this divine
Knowledge? It would have been obvious that there were differences in
In bodily form. Like Adam named the animals. He named Eve woman.

There are some things we know by observation and by instinct. Maybe
God left a scar on his side or he felt a bone missing from his body.
We don’t know, but Adams’s reaction was one of delight, approval
And thankfulness. The woman was present to him talking his language.
Since man was created in the image and likeness of God, he was created
To speak and make decisions, be joyful and thankful.
Adam understood unity; bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh. He was
Quick to understand the importance of togetherness.

RESPECT FOR MARRIAGE
Notice God speaks to the couple about respect for the family

Genesis 2:24-25
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

This command would require some forward thinking on Adam and Eve’s part because they were the first humans in the creation and they had no children when this command was given.

God is our spiritual father and mother. This command certainly didn’t mean to leave God. This is a case when you don’t know, you go in prayer with God. Some scriptures are beyond our comprehension and we need the Holy Spirit’s intervention to understand.

Adam’s response indicated that he understood becoming one flesh and being united to his wife,

A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH, A MARRIAGE BONDED WITH
GOD
Family is a force to be reckoned with. Family with God is an unbreakable bond.

Ecclesiastes 4:12
12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

It is good for us to know and honor the last part of the verse. A man and
His wife needs their own space. What worked in the marriage of Mom and Dad may not work in your marriage. Your marriage is unique and doesn’t need outside interference. It is good to listen to advice from Mom and Dad. A man and his wife must make decisions for themselves.

When there is conflict in the marriage, we are not likely to tell the whole
Story. Your business is your business and not outsiders. To cleave means to pursue hard, close ranks. Getting other people in your marriage business
Is to allow Satan to step in and destroy what God has joined together

THE BEAUTY OF THE BODY
Genesis 2:24
The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

There should be no secrets in marriage. When a married couple look
At each other, they should only see the blessing of God. We should see no faults and consider no faults. Since man and his wife were made differently,
They must be tolerant of each other and put the needs of the other as more important.

As we grow older, our physical appearance change, but our souls should continue to grow in love and respect. There is no shame in growing old
Together.
