TRUSTING GOD IN DIFFICULT TIMES
Ex 10:21-39
REJECTING GOD IS A STATE OF DARKNESS
V:21-22 Then the LORD said to Moses, \”Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness will spread over Egypt — darkness that can be felt.\” 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days.
A. The first thing we see in the text is a prelude to redemption.
1. Darkness represents death.
2. Jesus was in the grave three days before His resurrection
and the beginning of the redemption of man.
3. Darkness represents the state of all mankind before
the atonement of sin.
4. When Jesus died on the cross, there was darkness in the
middle of the day over Israel from 12 AM to 3 Pm
B. Darkness calls our attention to the absent of light.
1. It was a dark time for the disciples of Jesus.
2. They had lost their Messiah.
3. They had lost their sense of direction.
4. Walking without Jesus is walking in the dark.
JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF OUR LIVES
V:23 No one could see anyone else or leave his place for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.
A. Even in the mist of darkness in the world, light shines
for those who love the Lord.
1. When others are troubled, those who love the Lord
find peace in His blossom.
2. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.
B. God ordered the darkness for the Egyptians.
1. God ordered light for His people.
2. There is a separation between those who love the
Lord and those who reject Him.
3. Evil roams in dark places of the heart.
4. God is in control of the darkness and the light.
WORSHIP REQUIRES A SACRIFICE
V:24-26 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, \”Go, worship the LORD . Even your women and children may go with you; only leave your flocks and herds behind.\”
25 But Moses said, \”You must allow us to have sacrifices and burnt offerings to present to the LORD our God. 26 Our livestock too must go with us; not a hoof is to be left behind. We have to use some of them in worshiping the LORD our God, and until we get there we will not know what we are to use to worship the LORD .\”
A. Those in darkness will cry out to the Lord in
Difficult times.
1. There is no compromise with the Lord.
2. It is all God or none at all.
3. If Satan can control your worship. He can control you.
B. Those who love the Lord must stand on His commands.
1. Worship requires a sacrifice.
2. Everything we got can be used to worship the Lord.
3. We are not to hold anything back from the LORD.
4. In Worship, God may move our hearts to do more
than we are prepared to do.
C. Satan will always try to interrupt your worship.
1. He will tell you that it don’t take all that to
worship the Lord.
2. Satan will try to influence you to put a limit on how
much time and money you spend in worship.
3. You may not know what God will require of you until
you get in the Worship service,
GOD CAN USE AN EVIL MIND FOR OUR GOOD
V:27-29 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh\’s heart, and he was not willing to let them go. 28 Pharaoh said to Moses, \”Get out of my sight! Make sure you do not appear before me again! The day you see my face you will die.\”
29 \”Just as you say,\” Moses replied, \”I will never appear before you again.\”
A. God is in the mess that surrounds you.
1. God controls the mess that surrounds you
2. God will protect you in the mess.
B. When you love the Lord, some people will not want
to be around you.
1. There are those who don’t want to hear the Word of God.
2. Since you love the Lord, there are those who may plan
violence against you.
3. Those who hate the Lord have violent planned for them.
4. The Lord protects you in the mist of violent people.
C. God can cause the evil thoughts and plans of others
to work out for your good.
1. Some times the best thing you can do is to stay out of the
way of those who wish to harm you.
2. God has a plan for your life and it includes dealing with
Difficult people.
3. It is dealing with difficult situations with God’s guidance
that you learn to trust Him.
